Detailed profile:

Work Experience

Senior Research Engineer at Read-Ink Technologies Pvt Ltd, June 2004-2007

Read-Ink is a small, privately held company specializing in document analysis and handwriting recognition technologies.

At read-ink I was involved in the design and implementation of algorithms at various levels of the online handwriting recognition which include pre-processing, component, character and word levels. Handwriting recognition involves complex mathematical computations and a deep understanding of Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition. (Technical details are proprietary)

I was able come up with innovative and path-breaking ideas for better recognition. I also had the opportunity to work with and lead small teams enabling me to hone my leadership and inter-personal skills.

Personal projects -

Vision Guided Autonomous Vehicle -
Won award for Best Innovative Design in Robotix 2002, a robotics competition organized by IIT Kharagpur. The objective of the competition was to make a vehicle which can particularly seek striped cubes from an arena of cubes, spheres and cones without colliding with any object. Visual input was taken using a Logitech web camera. The vehicle was controlled by switching transistors connected to the parallel port of the computer.

Voice Activated Switch –
Won 3rd prize in Hardware Category, National Design Contest 2001. The objective of the competition was to make a user-independent switch which would turn on when the user says on and goes off when the user says off. The input from the microphone was amplified and fed to few filters in audio frequency range. The output of these filters was analyzed and a relay was activated accordingly.

Rope Climbing Robot -Built a rope-climbing robot for the International Rope-Climbing Machine Design Contest, IIT Bombay, Jan 2004

Vehicle to traverse a path and pick up a napkin  -
Participated in Yantriki 2003, a robotics competition organized by IIT Bombay. The objective of the competition was to make a manually operated vehicle to traverse a path with few obstacles, pick up a napkin placed on the floor, return back to its original position and drop the napkin in minimum amount of time.

Vehicle to guide ping-pong balls into a goal -
Participated in Robotix 2003, IIT kharagpur. The objective of the competition was to make a vehicle which can collect ping-pong balls lying on the floor and guide them into a goal. The vehicle also has to avert some obstacles kept in the arena before reaching the goal.
